What your child will learn

Questions parents ask

How do I help my child write a story?

Plan first with a story web: write the story idea in the middle, then fill strands for the characters, setting, problem, events and solution. Then turn each strand into sentences with openers like One morning, Next and At last, add describing words and feelings, and check capital letters and periods.

What age is this lesson for?

It is made for children aged 5 to 9 (Kindergarten to Grade 3). The video teaches narrative writing through a story with songs and memory tricks, then the worksheet game lets them practise it.

Is it free?

Yes. The video, the online worksheet game and the printable PDF with an answer key are all free, with no sign-up.
